A judge orders the ex-mayoress of San Fulgencio to 17 months in prison.

Criminal court 1 of Orihuela has condemned the ex-mayoress of San Fulgencio, TRINIDAD MARTÍNEZ PSOE to 17 months in prison for a crime against town planning, which extends to councillors José Mora (16 months imprisonment) and MARIANO MARTÍ APFSU (8 months imprisonment) and architectural engineers Francisco Ballester (4 months imprisonment), José Angel Varó and José Antonio Bernabéu (almost eight months in prison). The ruling absolved Simone Elster, María Teresa Terrés and Luisa Alberola.

The events date back to 2000 with the construction of almost eight blocks of flats in La Marina which were completed by 2010 on land earmarked for sport residence.

TRINIDAD MARTINÉZ (PSOE) has also been banned for 9 years from holding public office and MARIANO MARTÍ (APFSU) has been banned for 8 years from holding public office.

Where are these flats

Commented desnaandmick in La Marina 2015-03-24 12:05:00 UTC

They are flats next to the Thursday market.

Commented samhull05 in La Marina 2015-03-24 12:29:01 UTC

I was under the impression that these flats were advertised as holiday flats for sporting holidays, including three swimming pools, It seemed that apart from Posh Private Members Club, nothing else was really finished. Was this all part of the dodgy dealing, and the sports flats were suddenly going to be ordinary flats and all were to be sold as that. If so how much more corruption are we going to put up with. It just shows that we need to do some homework, and see who is honest and who is a crook, and then use our knowledge to get out and vote for the honest ones (If we can find some) in May.

Commented Alan in La Marina 2015-03-24 12:42:34 UTC

I agree with your comments Alan, and it is nice to see that the previous corrupt administration has got their just desserts. With regards to the current administration, and I have said this before, Mayor Carlos Ramirez and Paulino, have done more for La Marina over the past 4 years than any previous administration. When they took over, the Town Hall was 9 million in debt. This has been greatly reduced. Also, the dealings that I have had with them over issues which have been raised during meetings with the Presidents Association, has been excellent. Everything we asked them to do, to benefit the Urbanisation, they did. I will include on that when we got permission to have entertainment, which the Mayor and Paulino played a big part in the negotiations. Sadly, we all know how it turned out, but that was not the fault of the Town Hall. I would be more than happy to give them another 4 years and see how it goes. From what I have read about any opposition, well, who is there?

Commented Tommy in La Marina 2015-03-25 12:47:57 UTC

Apparently, if your jail sentence is less than two years in Spain you don't actually go to jail!

Commented Norick in La Marina 2015-03-25 16:45:22 UTC

So it is possible you have to go to prison with less than a 2 year sentence.

I find it insulting that Tommy would say that all of the work on the urbanisations is thanks to Carlos and Paulino. Paulino is the Councillor for Parks and Gardens, nothing more. Athough he does organise some nice trips which unfortunately takes him away from his Council duties. A huge percentage of the work done here has been done through the Offices for the Urbanisations, a team which I am very proud to be part of. Apart from Carlos´s attendances at the President´s meetings, by his own admission, he has spent very little time on the urbanisation.

Commented samhull05 in La Marina 2015-03-26 09:00:28 UTC

Carlos and Paulinho promised that 'The Men'Shed' would be granted use of a plot of lane nearly 18 months ago.
Despite repeated promises that it would be granted we are still waiting. We had a meeting with Carlos and the appropriate councillors 3 months ago and yet again we were promised an answer within 5 days. No answer yet.
We now know there are no more council meetings due to the elections. We have been led on a paper trail for more than 12 months fulfilling all the requirements asked of us leading us to apply to Spanish Hacienda for a CIF number. We have jumped through every hoop they could think of but still no answer.
The only help we've had has come from Sam and Jeff in the mini town hall. They have acted as translators and go-betweens and arranged meeting with the Spanish Press when needed. They have not been given the credit for all the work they've done as we did not wish to rock the boat with the PP councillors by drawing attention to the fact we asked the political party which basically are in opposition to the local government.
It has also been rumoured that if the pipn are not reelected then the office which a lot of people use, next to the mini town hall, will close. This will have a devastating effect on all the locals who would have to travel to san Fulgencio for a majority of information and documents.
Please take note of all the electioneering manifestos which the political parties put out and make an effort to vote. It's your town where you live so take an active part in the running of it.

Well it has not taken long who as done what and who promised what I think what you should all remember is the title of the thread The EX mayor.I think what Tommy is saying this council (coalition) as done more than the last lot did.We will all be hearing the election manifesto,s in the next weeks and all the bitching from the political parties so lets leave them to get on with it know doubt you have already made up your mind on who to vote for.

Commented david in La Marina 2015-03-26 12:11:28 UTC

david,
I have re-read what Tommy said, he started about the previous corrupt council, but then went on to name the Mayor and Paulinho as the two people who have done much for the betterment of La Marinna Urbs.
Samantha, I feel was aggrieved, as she felt that most things done for the betterment of La Marina Urbs. was instigated from Jeffs office which is situated on the Urb.
This also Shows what Jeff was on about when he said that the PP had claimed it was them that was getting things done on the Urb.
The one advantage is that Jeff will not be the odd man out if the PP get six seats at the election and need one more for control, I gather the PIPN and PP will not be bed fellows in the future.

Commented Alan in La Marina 2015-03-26 14:00:19 UTC

Hi Alan long time no write! Thought you'd gone home!
If there is a hung council would it not be better for Jeff and Sam to consider another coalition to have a say in the running of the town rather than being out in the cold? It could work the other way and PSOE need to form a coalition.
PIPN may get more than 1 seat and could then influence the policies more?
It would be better for our community for more people to vote in these our elections.

Commented Peter Horsfield in La Marina 2015-03-26 14:10:24 UTC

Peter
We agree 100% (I think) Except several times in the past four years, I felt that jeff and the residents of La Marina Urbs. were being shafted by the PP gang of eight. I mentioned on here and other forums that Jeff should resign his position and shaft the PP who could not control San Fulgencio with only eight guaranteed votes, then jeff could of either stayed independent of all the other parties meaning that although he only had I vote he was stronger than all the others because they would always draw (8-8) 0n votes so Jeff always had the casting vote. Or he could go with the opposition and he could name his own price.
Hopefully the PIPN will get at least two seats on the new Council, and hopefully the second vote is Samantha, I hope I am right, as she is so good in her position now she would be perfect as a councilor, and she looks and sounds so honest, she must be good for the PIPN. On saying all this I could still vote for someone entirely different

Commented Alan in La Marina 2015-03-26 14:39:48 UTC

100% agree with you Alan, (I think :) ). I do agree that Sam would be an excellent choice and works hard for all residents here, be they Spanish or English or other nationalities. I have decided who I will vote for. I have seen a lot of things from both the football scene when I was VP and now from the aspect of the Mansshed. A lot of things I am not happy with and would like to have changed.

Commented Peter Horsfield in La Marina 2015-03-26 15:47:47 UTC

Oh dear, Sam, my comments were not aimed at insulting anyone, but you have made your reply a political one, having a dig at Paulino. What I said was my own personal findings over the last 4 years. I know for a fact that Paulino has been very helpful to lots of people, even out of hours. I have personally had meetings with Carlos, which have been very helpful and informative. I have not made any comment about you or Jeff, as I have had no need to. So, instead of a Party Political comment, lets talk about what can be achieved for OUR Urbanisation. I have no interest in politics, but I will support the people who have done their best for our community. When Trini was in office, we (The Presidents Assoc) had a meeting with her, but nothing much came of it. We have had numerous meetings with the current administration, and as I have said before, they have carried out all of their promises, and I should add that Jeff attended a lot of these meetings. So, stop trying to score points over the opposition, and let us all hear what you propose to do for the future of OUR Urbanisation. Why can't people work together ??????

Commented Tommy in La Marina 2015-03-26 18:45:10 UTC

Well said Tommy as I said its that time of the year everyone trying to score points over the other and it doesnt help when you have Alan chipping in he only comes on here when he wants an argument. Since the noise issue as not been mentioned we have had no comments form him.

Commented david in La Marina 2015-03-27 15:26:32 UTC

The advantage david ,is that I do not force you to read my argumentative comments, but as I say at the end of some of my comments "only my opinion", much the same that if I didn't find some of your remarks about me funny, I would more than likely find them boring

Commented Alan in La Marina 2015-03-27 16:08:33 UTC

I don't usually post on this site but like to read the interesting comments people have put so as to keep up with what is going on in La Marina. I am not a full time resident but do visit quite frequently and enjoy La Marina. I have a property quite near to the market place and read with some interest that the uncompleted flats built on the sports complex next to the market have been built without the relevant permission resulting in the former councillors and mayor being sentenced to prison. If the flats are illegal how come they have been purchased by the Posh Members club or is this only rumour? The reason I am interested is quite simple, when I drive down Calle Lisboa on the way to my house I pass these total eye sores with a very tatty green fence that is in very poor disrepair and quite frankly dangerous to anyone who is walking by. The steel tubing is rusty and in places hanging into the pavement and the green sheeting just flaps about in the wind and seems to get worse every time I visit. I feel so sorry for the people who live across the road from it, having to look at that every day for the last ten years can't have been much fun. After all these poor people pay there property taxes just the same as everyone else on the urbanisation and deserve better.
Someone in the town hall knows who owns it and who is responsible for the state of disrepair it is in. If there is any one out there who would also like to see something done about it I would love some kind of response to this Post. Maybe there will be a councillor who will read this post and do something, it would be a great vote puller. I hope people will not think I'm just another whinger I am not, I have just posted this because I genuinely care for the upkeep of La Marin .

Peter you keep banging on about man sheds as if you had a right to a plot of land which you don, t and for your information you have never once inquired with any of the residents in that area what we think about putting portacabins near our houses which I would remind you cost us a few hundred thousand euros before the financial crash and would anyone want to buy anywhere near that price as it is, without looking at these portacabins, we need people to buy on the urb so as to pay suma to give the council more money to be able to improve our urb. If you want to carry on with your idea then buy a bloody shed put it in your garden and invite any one you like around or make use of the facilities we all ready have on the urb, stop trying using the press to bully the council and lets start talking about things to improve the urb, like fining people who let there dogs crap every where how to stop people dumping eleagly because they carn, t be bothered to use the tip, there is more important things this urb needs than a bloody mans shed get real.

I was promised last friday, in front of witnesses's, that the people responsible for exterminating the Howgas de los Pinos would come to the verdi outside my home on Monday 30th March and make sure they were all dead as I suffered a severe allergic reaction to these creatures crawling up my body. I am still waiting to see them arrive.??????

Commented Caroline in La Marina 2015-04-03 09:44:46 UTC

I am also pleased that they have got what they deserve, They have ruined lots of lives of people resident in Oasis, our roads and infrastructure have been turned into bomb sites, i can't leave from my front gate on my mobility scooter, having turned it over twice on the rubble. We were promised by this current administration they would sort it out, not happened. We are part of La Marina and San Fulgencio when it suits them, we pay our taxes and rates to San Fulgencio and Oasis has paid them a lot longer than La Marina.
I believe this work was started on the instruction of Brussels to bring the Urb up to current standard, I wonder if they know how we have been living during these last two administrations.
I think the time has now come to let Alicante, Valencia, and Brussels know what has happened and is still happpening to us.

Commented Robert in La Marina 2015-04-03 15:30:53 UTC

Robert,
I was under the impression that your Roads etc. were going to be fixed. I am sure that is what was either on this Forum or the other Local one. just a few weeks ago.
If they havnt started yet, You don't have much of a chance of getting anything done until after the elections, worst still the holiday season starts,So at best October looks to be the earliest. and that is only if these Councils start to take the problems of the Urbs seriously. I know you have put your complaints on here before,I think you need to try a different tact, Because the Local Councillors are not listening.

Commented Alan in La Marina 2015-04-03 17:41:12 UTC

Robert.
I see from a comment made today, That Paulino Herrera, Local Councillor, claims that the contract to fix your roads, has been sorted and the workman are standing by, to start. Work should begin in a few days. I know you have heard this so many times before, but the PP need to get on the good side of as many people as possible, they have not made many friends since taking power at the Council four years ago,and need the votes to keep their jobs.
So now is the time to keep on top of it and if work doesn't start in a few days, you and your neighbours should shout loud and long,if you think you need more help tell us on the Forums , I am sure we can and will help, The PP mob, don't want to be collecting un employment benefit.

Commented Alan in La Marina 2015-04-04 10:42:03 UTC

Alan just your opinion that PP have made no friends while in power but I know a lot of residents who would disagree and will be voting for them wanting them to keep up the good work

Commented david in La Marina 2015-04-04 11:15:27 UTC

david,
At last you realize, almost everything I write is "only my opinion", as you have just shown me your opinion, .and you could well be right. Just to get things in perspective, I have praised Paulino on several occasions mainly with the tidiness of the parks and gardens which he is in charge of, but again that is only "my opinion" I am sure someone on this Forum may disagree with me, But that is what forums are about . ie Discussion, debate,Opinion and advice.
