Fantastic man, if I ever reach one tenth the of the man he was I will be a better man than I am now.

Commented [email protected] in La Marina 2013-12-07 08:16:48 UTC

quite ironic how attitudes have changed,....the man was arrested for being a gangster some decades ago and now he is classed as one of the greatest leaders in history

Commented r_moreton in La Marina 2013-12-07 12:03:39 UTC

Good and bad in everyone, but he can still R.I.P.

Commented 2nd Casa in La Marina 2013-12-07 12:18:14 UTC

r_moreton, your comment "the man was arrested for being a gangster some decades ago" is somewhat peculiar. Who decided he was a gangster?
Think before you write!

Commented reindeer keeper in La Marina 2013-12-07 15:14:55 UTC

Actually, he wasn't a gangster, he was a terrorist !
He was convicted with overwhelming evidence of his terrorist activities which were directed by the Soviet Union, to bring about a communist revolution, to make South Africa a Soviet satellite state.
Mandela never renounced his despicable communist beliefs and terrorist past.
If you'd like, you can access all the scenes of bomb attacks approved by Mandela on youtube.

Commented Al Marina in La Marina 2013-12-07 19:34:18 UTC

He wasn't a gangster he was leader of the ANC a terrorist organisation, one of their aims was to kill all the white boaer farmers and take their land, the ANC also used to put tyres round the necks of their enemies and set them alight, and many more atrocities.

Commented Marv.75 in San Fulgencio 2013-12-07 20:08:06 UTC

Yeah but its still R.I.P sorry for stating the obvious. but that what its about on this thread

Commented 2nd Casa in La Marina 2013-12-07 23:16:09 UTC

Martv.75, "take their land"?? Hooray for colonialism.

Commented reindeer keeper in La Marina 2013-12-07 23:21:54 UTC

Gangster/Terrorist, Terrorist/Gangster ? The fact is, it wasn't till he was getting loads of media coverage all them years ago that anybody really gave a flying fig about the man,.....the next thing you know he becomes president and a hero for many just because of the media bigging up his "plight" then living off the royalties of his new found status,.....but what about the victims from all the atrocities he supported?
But then again,..I forgot this is "A Spanish Life-La Marina forum" and many peoples opinions are invalid,.... welcome to the land of the brainwashed. I come on here every morning just to cheer myself up by reading all the comments,..it makes me realise I'm still normal and my brain functions fine. Right time to log off before I dribble my porridge down my plaid dressing gown and slippers followed by forgetting I need the toilet. ;0)

Commented r_moreton in La Marina 2013-12-08 05:28:51 UTC

He was never a gangster but he was a freedom fighter. The choice for black people in South Africa, fight back or be shot down like dogs.

Commented Scotty in La Marina 2013-12-08 10:40:45 UTC

Yes r_moreton, the toilet is a good place for your shit-talking!

Commented reindeer keeper in La Marina 2013-12-08 10:49:03 UTC

Oh no !!! I have awoken the wrath of the reindeer keeper,...like I said earlier,...you are not allowed an opinion on this forum unless it fits with the norm,...well take a look at the article below reindeer keeper and click the link I have also posted just to be sure that I have not made this all up.

The hero of the anti-apartheid struggle was not the saint we want him to be.

The image of Nelson Mandela as a selfless, humble, freedom fighter turned cheerful, kindly old man, is well established in the West. If there is any international leader on whom we can universally heap praise it is surely he. But get past the halo we’ve placed on him without his permission, and Nelson Mandela had more than a few flaws which deserve attention.

He signed off on the deaths of innocent people, lots of them

Nelson Mandela was the head of UmKhonto we Sizwe, (MK), the terrorist wing of the ANC and South African Communist Party. At his trial, he had pleaded guilty to 156 acts of public violence including mobilising terrorist bombing campaigns, which planted bombs in public places, including the Johannesburg railway station. Many innocent people, including women and children, were killed by Nelson Mandela’s MK terrorists. Here are some highlights

-Church Street West, Pretoria, on the 20 May 1983

-Amanzimtoti Shopping complex KZN, 23 December 1985

-Krugersdorp Magistrate’s Court, 17 March 1988

-Durban Pick ‘n Pay shopping complex, 1 September 1986

-Pretoria Sterland movie complex 16 April 1988 – limpet mine killed ANC terrorist M O Maponya instead

-Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court, 20 May 1987

-Roodepoort Standard Bank 3 June, 1988

Tellingly, not only did Mandela refuse to renounce violence, Amnesty refused to take his case stating “[the] movement recorded that it could not give the name of ‘Prisoner of Conscience’ to anyone associated with violence, even though as in ‘conventional warfare’ a degree of restraint may be exercised.”

Well said r morton ! Winnie Mandela was a nasty piece as well. Convicted twice ! yes twice of the murder of a 12 yr old girl, she also backed "necklacing" which if any of you on here don't know, is the placing of a petrol soaked car tyre around the neck of a hapless victim, then set on fire.
I think some people on here don't want to know the facts for some reason.....and reindeer keeper should be getting his flock ready for the forthcoming season, we don't want to let Santa down !

Commented Al Marina in La Marina 2013-12-08 11:45:29 UTC

r_moreton and BigEd, you are apparently two relics of the apartheid era in South Africa who have moved to Spain.

Commented reindeer keeper in La Marina 2013-12-08 12:18:45 UTC

reindeer, you are apparently someone who believes all the bullshit and hype in the media.
Don't shoot the messenger ! i'm trying to educate you but you don't seem to want to learn, you can't change history, the facts are there if you care to take a look ! Him and his wife were party to murdering innocent people, if that's ok by you, I feel sorry for you.
I think you just come on here for arguments sake.

Commented Al Marina in La Marina 2013-12-08 12:53:19 UTC

Yet again reindeer, You reply to truth with your normal rants, Why cant you just agree to differ with those who have valid points to make.
Mandela may of been a nice Guy towards the end of his life, but prior to that he was a terrorist, not only that but an extreme terrorist. He did sign off the lives of many people, even if you don't want to believe it.
As much as I regret the passing of Mandela, I also regret the passing of every single person who died because Mandela allowed his cohorts to kill them

Commented Alan in La Marina 2013-12-08 13:09:29 UTC

Thank you BigEd and Alan,......I was just trying to show reindeer facts not fiction,..but I guess some people just want to burry their head in the sand or in his case possibly snow...lol

Commented r_moreton in La Marina 2013-12-08 13:50:33 UTC

r_moreton, BigEd and Alan.
And the apartheid regime did nothing wrong? Everything was ok? Do you really mean that South Africa would have been paradise on earth if not the majority wanted a change? I have been to South Africa and experienced apartheid in reality. It was terrible!
But this has nothing to do with La Marina so this will be my last comment. Thank God or Alah or whoever you want to thank if you belive in fairy tales.

Commented reindeer keeper in La Marina 2013-12-08 20:27:33 UTC

For the love of god reindeer !! All that us normal rational people are trying to say is that nelson mandela was no saint, why should everyone be in awe of a man with a background like his, yes apartheid was very bad,..but two wrongs certainly don't make a right in my book,.....it's like me and a load of others putting up a post saying "such a shame jimmy saville is dead,...ok he was a sick sadistic ba^$&rd,...but when he wasn't abusing children generally he was an all round nice guy" Wake up and smell the coffee,...wrong is wrong, full stop.com

Commented r_moreton in La Marina 2013-12-09 07:43:53 UTC

Reindeer
Thank you for saying you will not add anymore of your thoughts on this matter.
But one thing for sure, I did not see one comment saying that aparthieid was a good thing.
In fact it was only in your mind, The point made was that Mandela spent 27 years on Robin Island for atrocities he condoned and participated in, when bombs are planted in shopping centres and other busy places they do not kill and maim only the baddies, but also the non aligned and the innocent (including children).those bombs did not bring peace to South Africa, but the long and tiresome job of talking and the fact that many other Countries got involved in boycotting the Country that brought the Government to negotiate and change laws. (The same sort of thing that is happening with Iran as we speak).
So please don't get the urge to add your diatribe, until perhaps you can understand, that some people do not agree with your thoughts

Commented Alan in La Marina 2013-12-09 08:49:02 UTC

not that i agree with reindeer but if he wants to make comment then this is a forum and not just your personal blog alan he is allowed to have his thoughts and air them on here.

Commented david in La Marina 2013-12-09 08:58:15 UTC

david,
reindeer is entitled to his opinions, but it was him who stated that this topic had nothing to do with La Marina so he wouldn't be replying on this particular comment.I thought it was a good idea, so what is wrong with that?
In fact as for my using this site as my personal Blog, It was my belief that blogs were about a particular person, where as comments are what one makes when debating other comments that have been written.
Of course I may be wrong, in which case ,I would of learned something

Commented Alan in La Marina 2013-12-09 10:12:39 UTC

WTF have I started I only posted a R.I.P.

Commented 2nd Casa in La Marina 2013-12-09 12:43:42 UTC

Yes Mandela was fighting against apartheid but other movements had used peaceful methods. Gandhi fought by exclusively peaceful means using publicity and awareness, whereas Mandela chose to endorse terrorism.

Mandela lived the luxury of living to an old age and dying of natural causes, the victims of the terrorist acts at the hands of the ANC were not given the chance to have such a privilege.

Commented ianlbosnia in La Marina 2013-12-09 20:39:41 UTC

Well said any moral high ground is taken away as soon as you use violence.
Just look at what has happened in Northern Ireland terroists become politicians, all smiling and denouncing violence its a joke.
